Junk Car Pickup Across Casper and Natrona County: What It Pays and How the Paperwork Works
Most of the vehicles we buy in Casper stopped being worth repairing a while ago. A field truck with a tired engine, a sedan parked behind the house since the last hard winter, something that was rear-ended last spring and never went back to the body shop. None of it needs to run. Phone 1-800-935-8652, describe the vehicle and say where it is parked, and the price is settled on that call. A flatbed comes to the address, the driver pays in cash, and towing is not deducted from anything. The paperwork side is where Casper sellers lose time, so this page front-loads it: Natrona County, not the state, issues your title, a lienholder’s name on the face of it will stop the sale cold, and there is a documented route to a title for a vehicle you bought with nothing but a handshake.

How to sell a junk car in Casper
Everything hinges on an accurate description, so be specific on the call. Engine condition, whether the wheels turn, whether the converter has already been cut off, whether a previous buyer stripped the alternator or the seats. Energy-sector trucks come with their own questions: tell us if a service bed, a crane, a welder deck or a toolbox rack is still bolted on, because that steel is part of what you are selling and it is part of what the driver has to lift. Access varies sharply across town. North Casper and the blocks around the Old Yellowstone District have older alleys and tight industrial frontage. The South Wolcott Street historic blocks run to narrow driveways. Paradise Valley and West Paradise Valley have room but also mobile-home lots where a flatbed cannot back in square. Properties on the Casper Mountain side and out toward Allendale or Indian Springs sit on grades and gravel, which matters after a storm. With Casper averaging around 71.8 inches of snow a year, mention whether the vehicle is plowed in.
What is a junk car worth in Casper?
A realistic range here is $150 to $700, and Casper’s vehicle mix tends to sit on the upper half of it. This is an oil town with a refinery history going back to 1895 and the Salt Creek field about forty miles north, and the rolling stock reflects that: three-quarter-ton and one-ton pickups, crew cabs, service bodies and work vans all weigh substantially more than the compact cars that set the bottom of the range. Weight is the floor, the catalytic converter and any resalable drivetrain are the upside, and a vehicle that has already been picked over brings less. Rust is less punishing than buyers expect in a town that gets real winters. WYDOT says it spreads sand plus anti-icing and de-icing chemicals as temperatures allow, that it most commonly uses a salt-sand mixture, and that salt stops working in sub-zero temperatures and strong winds, all of which limits the chemical attack a Natrona County car absorbs. The honest offset is geography. Wyoming had 588,753 residents and 5.9 people per square mile, so dismantling and processing capacity is thin and the haul distance is baked into every Wyoming quote, including ours.
Title and paperwork rules in Wyoming
Deal with the lien first, because it outranks every other paperwork question. If a bank or credit union still appears on the face of your Wyoming title, you cannot hand the vehicle over until that is released, and a release or a letter on the lender’s letterhead is what the county clerk wants to see. Titling itself happens locally. WYDOT confirms Wyoming titles and lien filings go through the county clerk office, so in Casper that is the Natrona County Clerk, 200 North Center Street, Room B19, at (307) 235-9211. Lost the title? Natrona County’s document is the Affidavit and Application for Obtaining a Duplicate Certificate of Title. You certify the original was mutilated, lost or destroyed, every owner signs, and it is sworn before a Notary Public or Deputy County Clerk. The fee is a flat $15.00 non-refundable, matching W.S. 31-3-102(a)(vii), which prices an original or duplicate certificate of title identically. Never had a title at all? W.S. 31-2-105(c) skips the indemnity bond for a vehicle worth under $2,500, as long as you bring an affidavit of vehicle ownership, a notarized bill of sale, a certified written value statement from a licensed Wyoming dealer and a VIN inspection.
Casper abandoned and inoperable vehicle rules
Casper’s rule lives in Chapter 8.36 of the municipal code, Wrecked and Disabled Vehicles and Junk, and it is written differently from most city ordinances. Section 8.36.010 declares a public nuisance where there is an abandoned, wrecked, dismantled or inoperative vehicle, more than one unlicensed vehicle, or junk on private or public property, except as expressly permitted. Read that carefully: a single unlicensed but operable car is not the trigger, while one inoperative car is. The permitted exceptions in 8.36.005 cover storage, repair or stripping conducted entirely within the confines of an accessory garage building, provided the vehicle belongs to the owner or occupier of the lot and the use is not commercial. The same section defines junk as materials left outside of any building, expressly not materials inside a lawfully constructed, wholly enclosed building. Once the city manager’s representative issues notice, you have ten days from receipt to abate. Section 8.36.020 makes failing to do so a misdemeanor with each day a separate violation, and it is separately unlawful to shift the vehicle to other private property where storage is not allowed. A written hearing request goes to the city clerk within ten days of the notice date, or the right is waived. Enforcement is the Code Enforcement Division, 200 N. David Street, (307) 235-8400. Penalties run under 1.28.010 to a fine of up to $750 plus court costs.
How Do You Sell a Junk Car Fast in Casper, WY?
Call 1-800-935-8652, describe the vehicle’s condition and give its Casper address, and you get a cash number before a truck is ever dispatched. A flatbed arrives at the property, pays cash on the hook, and nothing comes off for towing. Natrona County, not WYDOT, issues the title that has to change hands, so clear any lien at the Natrona County Clerk’s counter before pickup day. Casper’s own ordinance runs the opposite direction from most cities: Municipal Code 8.36.005(C) lets you store, repair or even strip a dead vehicle inside an accessory garage without the nuisance clock ever starting, as long as it stays off the street.

Areas of Casper we tow from
Coverage runs across the Casper city limits and the surrounding Natrona County communities. In town that is downtown and the Old Yellowstone District, the South Wolcott Street blocks, North Casper, the Eastside and Elkhorn Valley, Highland Park, both Paradise Valley neighborhoods, and the properties climbing toward Casper Mountain. Beyond the line we work Mills, Evansville and Bar Nunn, plus Mountain View, Brookhurst, Vista West, Red Butte, Meadow Acres, Bessemer Bend, Antelope Hills and Homa Hills, and we go out to Alcova, Midwest and Edgerton. Trucks route on I-25, US 20/26, US 87, WYO 220 and WYO 258. Distance inside the county does not move your quote. Rough access, a locked gate or a snowed-in approach only changes which rig gets sent, so say so when you call.

Frequently asked questions
Is one unlicensed car in my Casper yard actually illegal?
Not on its own. Casper Municipal Code 8.36.010 declares a nuisance where there is an abandoned, wrecked, dismantled or inoperative vehicle, more than one unlicensed vehicle, or junk on the property. The plural matters: the unlicensed-vehicle clause takes effect at two. But a single inoperative vehicle is covered on its own, so a car with dead tags that still runs is a different situation from a car that no longer starts. If it does not start, the one-car count is already met.
How long does Casper give me after a notice?
Ten days, counted from when you receive the notice. Under 8.36.020 you must abate the nuisance within ten days after receipt of the notice, and failing to do so without just cause is a misdemeanor with each day counting as a separate violation. If you want to contest it, 8.36.030 and 8.36.040 require a written hearing request delivered to the city clerk within ten days from the date on the notice; miss that window and the right to a hearing is treated as waived.
Does putting the car in my garage solve the problem?
In Casper it generally does, which is unusual. The permitted exceptions in 8.36.005 allow storage, repair, servicing or even stripping when the work is conducted entirely within the confines of an accessory garage building, so long as the vehicle belongs to the owner or occupier of the lot and the use is not commercial. The same section says junk means materials left outside of any building and does not reach materials stored inside a lawfully constructed, wholly enclosed building.
The bank is still listed on my title. What now?
Clear it before you schedule anything. A lienholder shown on the face of a Wyoming title has to release that interest, and the Natrona County Clerk accepts a lien release form or a letter on the lender’s own letterhead. If you are also applying for a duplicate and you want the lien carried forward rather than removed, the lienholder signs the application. This is the single most common reason a Casper junk-car sale gets rescheduled, so start it early.
What is the duplicate title fee at the Natrona County Clerk?
Fifteen dollars, non-refundable, printed on the county’s own Affidavit and Application for Obtaining a Duplicate Certificate of Title. It matches the statewide figure in W.S. 31-3-102(a)(vii), which sets $15.00 for a certificate of title, original or duplicate. All owners named on the title sign, and the application is sworn before a Notary Public or Deputy County Clerk. The clerk’s title counter is at 200 North Center Street, Room B19, (307) 235-9211.
Can a Casper yard just take the car off my hands with no title?
A licensed yard is not supposed to do that. Under W.S. 31-13-114, anyone wrecking, dismantling or storing vehicles as a business must be licensed by WYDOT and must keep a three-year record of every vehicle received, including the name and address of the person it came from. Wyoming’s junk-branded title under W.S. 31-2-111 is available only to towing and recovery operators, not to private owners, and it can only be used to transfer a vehicle to a licensed storage and disposal facility.
Do you take work trucks and oilfield vehicles, not just cars?
Work trucks are some of the best vehicles we buy here. Service beds, welder decks, flatbeds, crew cabs and one-ton duallys carry far more steel than a passenger car, and weight is what sets the floor of any junk offer. Tell us on the call what is still mounted and whether anything on the bed is being kept, because a truck quoted with its deck and removed without it is a different vehicle. Tanks or containers with residual product need to be disclosed too.
My car was totaled a decade ago. Do I need a salvage title first?
Almost certainly not. The salvage brand in Wyoming attaches when repair cost tops seventy-five percent of a vehicle’s actual retail cash value, and W.S. 31-2-107(d) pulls motor vehicles with more than eight years of service out of that section entirely. Anything old enough to be scrapped is normally well clear of the cutoff. What does follow a vehicle forever is a brand it already carries: salvage, junk, scrap, nonrepairable or flood from any state is carried forward onto every later Wyoming title regardless of years of service.
